ODB (Oh Dizzam Board - aka daboard) began on May 5, 2001. This community was created to provide a fun and friendly environment for black adults ages 21-98. (18-20 with Invite from FULL MEMBER only)

It has grown to be a community that welcomes people of all races, although most conversations center around things that are of interest to the urban community. Please be sure to read the rules completely. These rules may be edited from time to time.

 

 

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT IT IS THE DUTY OF ALL OWNERS, ADMIN & MODS TO UPHOLD THESE RULES. PLEASE REPORT OR HANDLE ANY VIOLATIONS ASAP!

 

 

 

Rules

 

1. Intro Thread

All newbies must create a introduction thread upon joining. Please include some general information about yourself, such as your name, age, location, education, likes, etc. All newbies will be directed to the Mic Check forum. If the member refuses to give basic information, their account will be deleted.

 

2. Spamming

Sharing your email forwards, jokes and silly pictures is allowed in the Spam forum only. Spam posted elsewhere will be moved or deleted at the discretion of the forum moderator. Spamming also includes sending members via PM links to your freeipod, freelaptop sign-up page.

 

3. Free Posting

Posts made solely to boost your post count will be noted and these posts may be deleted without warning. After deletion, your post count will be reduced. Please do not complain about the reduction. Just learn to say something worthwhile.

 

4. Trolling

Joining ODB for the sole purpose of causing problems and harassing members is prohibited. Trolls will be banned without notice.

 

5. Harassment

Harassing ODB members via PM, the shoutbox, or posts in prohibited. Please refrain from personal attacks. If you disagree with a member, please do so without attacking them personally. If the beef goes on for an extended amount of time, an admin or mod may ask that you take the beef to your private email.

 

If you feel that a member is harassing you on the message board, please do not hesitate to report the post. If you are being harassed by private message, please forward the PM board administrator.

 

6. HTML

HTML is allowed on the forums. If it is abused it will be removed.

 

7. Promoting and Advertising

If you would like to advertise your business or web site, this is fine as well. Please be sure that you are a Full Member before doing so. Joining just to promote your business or Web site is a no-no. After you are a Full Member, you are welcome to post a link in the appropriate forum. Please do not spam us with the link daily. You may also choose to put the link in your signature.

 

No members may advertise via Private Messages! Ever.

 

*Full Members have 50 or more posts.

 

8. Usernames

All members may have only one username. If you'd like to change your username, you may do so with the virtual money (holla dollaz) in the Store linked at the top of the site. Please be sure your username contains no profanity or racial slurs.

 

If anyone is found to have multiple accounts, the accounts will be merged with no notice. If you sign up with another name after that, you will be banned for at least 30 days.

 

9. Know-It-Alls

Please don't come to ODB with a holier-than-thou, know-it-all attitude. No one likes that. And although we are very friendly and love newbies, I can't say that the members will take too kindly to the aforementioned type. Please remember that not everyone wants to be like you, do what you do, or think like you. This means that not everyone will take your words as gospel. Be ready to accept disagreements.

 

10. Networking

ODB is not (at this time) interested in networking with any other message forums or sites. You are free to promote your forum or site as long as you are a Full Member. We are not associated with any other forums or email groups (such as the ODB Men's Yahoo Group).

 

11. PMing Me

Members may PM me at any time for any reason; however, if it's something that you need done right away and can be done by any admin, you may be better posting it on the forum. If you send me a PM, the request will be added to the end of my ODB To-Do List (unless it's extremely urgent, in which case it gets added to the top).

 

12. Yahoo Group

ODB created a Yahoo Group in 2001 to let members know what's happening if the board goes down for any reason. Please join: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/daboard

 

13. Posting Pictures of Other Members

You may not post pictures of other ODB members without their permission. Even if you met them and took shots together. They must give their okay before they are posted. We've had too much drama in the past about pictures. You may not snag pictures from private forums and post them in the public. You may not snag photos from other sites and post them. If they want them posted, they'll give you permission or do it themselves. Also, some members have created yahoo groups and other places that they talk with other members. This is fine but if ANY member posts a picture of ANOTHER member anywhere and admin/mods finds out, they will be banned for at least 30 days.

 

We cannot police the Internet, but we can control who is a part of the ODB fam.

 

14. Underage Members

All members must be 21 or over. Please do not join if you are not 18 NOW. Anyone joining that is under the age of 21 will be banned. If you will be 21 within the year, the ban will lift automatically. If not, you will need to re-register after your 21st birthday.

 

15. Private Areas

Stop looking down. Ours...not yours. Private areas are just that. Private. Anyone that shares something from a private area on ODB will be banned. Time will be determined by the banning admin/mod.

 

Proof must be shown before anyone will be labeled a snitch.

 

16. Avatars and Signatures

There will be no nudity or porn in avatars or sigs. If you violate, an admin will remove your avatar or signature.

 

17. Lurking

Reading without ever posting (lurking) is discouraged. It is unfair for you to read without contributing. Lurkers may be banned without warning. Join in the fun!

 

18. Premium Member Rights

Being a Premium Member gives you special benefits, but does not give you the right to break the rules. All members must adhere to the above rules. If a Premium Member is banned, no refund will be given for the remaining time on their account.

 

19. 3 Strikes

Any member that has been banned THREE times, will be permanently banned from ODB. No exceptions.

 

 

General Dos and Don'ts

 

Do remember the Golden Rule and treat all ODB members the way you would want them to treat you.

 

Do NOT join if you are under the age of 18. Your account will be deleted ASAP. If you join again, your IP will be banned.
